I just wanted to share a super fun and engaging sensory bin idea that I recently whipped up for my little ones. Since we’ve been focusing on the letter G, I decided to create a garden-themed sensory bin! It’s not only educational but also a great way to let their creativity blossom.
To start, I gathered my materials. I found some mini pots at a craft store and a colorful assortment of fabric flowers. The flowers come with different stems, which makes them perfect for arranging in the pots.
Once I set everything up, we read the book “The Garden We Share” together, and then made our own mini garden and arranged the pots by color.
As we played, I took the opportunity to incorporate some learning into our fun. I encouraged them to identify the colors of the flowers and to talk about what they loved about gardening. I shared tidbits about how gardens grow and the importance of plants in our ecosystem.
One of my favorite moments was when we began counting the flowers together. “How many flowers do we have in our garden?” I asked. The kids enthusiastically helped me count, and I loved witnessing their growing confidence with numbers. Incorporating simple math into our sensory play made it even more enriching!
After a while, we also talked about how each flower is unique, just like how their personalities shine in different ways. It was a cute little reminder to celebrate our individual differences while still working together as a team in our “garden.”
As the play continued, we even turned our project into an impromptu art lesson. We made flower crowns using some extra materials we had around, and my kids wore them proudly while pretending to be garden fairies. The whole experience was magical!
Creating this garden-themed letter G sensory bin has been such a hit in our home. It beautifully meshes sensory exploration with learning, all while nurturing your child’s imagination. If you’re looking for an engaging way to introduce the letter G to your little ones, I highly recommend trying this out! Happy gardening! 🌼🌿
