Mexican folk dance and live mariachi music encourage families to participate in this joyful event welcoming back the spirits of loved ones. Try a traditional snack in festive museum galleries. View contemporary carved and painted folk art from Oaxaca by Ventura and Norberto Fabian. Decorate a sugar skull, make papel picado or another work of art and design a message to place upon the Dia de los Muertos altar.

Mozart?s last unfinished masterpiece, the Requiem Mass in D minor, is one of the most beloved choral and orchestral works in the classical repertoire. Unfinished at the time of Mozart?s death, this performance will feature the 1991 completion by noted Harvard scholar and pianist Robert Levin. Historical instrumental ensemble Grand Harmonie will perform in collaboration with the Harvard University Choir, a quartet of vocal soloists, and Maestro Edward Elwyn Jones.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to learn about the scientific side of the culinary arts during the 2015 Science and Cooking public lecture series. The popular lecture series pairs Harvard professors with celebrated food experts and renowned chefs to showcase the science behind different culinary techniques.

Contenders for this year?s prize are John Buchan?s The Thirty-Nine Steps, P.G. Wodehouse?s Psmith, Journalist, and Ford Madox Ford?s The Good Soldier.
The books will be defended by Peter Keough, James Parker, and Alan Andres. WBUR?s Meghna Chakrabarti will moderate the irreverent debate, after which the audience will vote to determine the winner of the Retroactive Book Award of 1915. A reception with the panelists will follow.

Sandrine Colson-Inam invites you to come explore the vast possibilities of mixing inks, charcoal, stamps, image transfers and more. She will combine these materials as well as paper collage to make abstract pieces on paper.
She usually begins the process with ink or charcoal, then she manipulates the ink with various objects and utensils, including straws, stamps, and other objects.

At the Fixer Fair attendees can bring things that need repairing and learn how to repair them or find someone who can. We are thrilled to announce the 9th Annual Boston Palestine Film Festival, presented in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, featuring 10 days of compelling, thought-provoking Palestinian narratives and a dazzling array of guest speakers.
BPFF2015 features works from directors around the world that offer refreshingly honest, self-described, and independent views of Palestine and its history, culture, and geographically dispersed society.
The festival opens with Eyes of a Thief, by Najwa Najjar on Friday, October 16 at 7 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Director Najjar will be in attendance.
We close with On the Bride?s Side by Antonio Augugliaro, Khaled Soliman Al-Nassiry, and Gabriele Del Grande on Sunday, October 25 at 3 pm at the MFA. Director Del Grande will be in attendance.
This year?s program also includes something new: Palestinians, Live! is an evening of true personal stories shared by local Palestinians in a cabaret setting, with instrumental Middle Eastern music.

Bring your pumpkin to one of the drop-off areas alongside the pond. We will illuminate them and float them for you. Watch as the pond fills up with glowing pumpkins.
Your carved and decorated jack-o?-lanterns must be 8? in diameter, or smaller, and already hollowed out or they will not float. After the event they will be used to make compost for the city?s gardens.

Coming off of the 2014 50th occurrence of this historic race, 2015 marks the 51st annual Head Of The Charles Regatta, presented by BNY Mellon, the iconic two-day rowing race set along the banks of Boston’s Charles River.

Comics are where language and images meet, and independent comics explore the full potential of that medium: fiction, action, memoir, history, humor and more. During MICE, hundreds of indie comics artists and small press publishers exhibit their creations, and thousands of attendees from the Greater Boston area turn out to meet them.
MICE has grown steadily in size and scope since its beginnings in 2010, always maintaining free admission to the public. What: An awesome annual 3-day free festival bringing brass bands from all over the United States and the world to Somerville for a celebration of music, community and activism. Organized entirely by volunteers and now in its 10th year, the festival kicks off on Friday night with a lantern parade in Davis Square neighborhoods and a band showcase at Johnny D?s. On Saturday more than 25 bands take over Davis Square for a giant music and dance party. On Sunday, local community groups, artists, and activists working for a variety of progressive causes ? economic justice, protecting the environment, world peace, an end to racism ? join the brass bands to make a spectacular parade from Davis Square to Harvard Square along Mass Avenue. Other HONK! Fest activities include a Day of Action, when bands convene to play on behalf of a cause, and roundtable discussions for participating musicians and organizers of other HONK! festivals around the country to gather and share experiences. Bring the family to come pick a Punkin? from the D Street Punkin patch at The Lawn on D! Parents and kids can carve their own special jack-o-lantern and add it to The Lawn on D?s colossal illuminated Punkin? Sculpture that will glow eerily from the lawn. The sculpture will be one-part seasonal celebration, one-part community art project and all-parts fun! Punkins will come to life with high-tech interactive lighting that illuminates and responds to music in real time. Special jack-o-lanterns will be intricately carved and put on display by local artists. Families can also look forward to fun ghoulish activities including PUNKIN? BOWLING, face painting and more. The Harvard Square Business Association is pleased to announce the return of the 37th Annual Oktoberfest and legendary HONK! Parade on Sunday, October 11th, 2015. Attended by over 200,000 people, Harvard Square?s Oktoberfest features food from all over the world, arts, crafts, vintage goods, free samples, sidewalk sales and one-of-a-kind gifts. In addition Harvard Square?s Oktoberfest boasts five beer gardens hosted by: Alden and Harlow, Charlie?s Kitchen, FiRE + iCE. Grafton Street and Night Market.
This annual celebration of fall features six stages of live music, including a Passim stage, a rock stage, and on the main stage, an all-HONK! Review! Dancing in the streets is encouraged!
The highlight of the festival is the HONK! Parade which arrives in the Square at approximately1pm. In its tenth year, the HONK! movement has become a global phenomenon. HONK! bands from around the country will march from Davis to Harvard. Spectators will be treated to a horn-tooting, hand-clapping, foot-stomping, mind-blowing spectacle and are welcomed to join the back of the parade and make their way to Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest in Harvard Square was started 1978 by the late Frank Cardullo, a Square mover, shaker and owner of the renowned Wursthaus, which served up traditional German food from 1917 until it closed in 1996. The early festivals were in keeping with the old world customs. Over the years, however, the festival has taken on a most discerningly Cambridge vibe to become an Oktoberfest unlike any other.

Come join the 21 member institutions of the Alliance and enjoy theatre workshops with the Wheelock Family Theatre, Boston Children?s Theatre; indoor kite flying with Kite Education; art-making with SPARC! the Artmobile; Open Studios at Fenway Studios, walking tours of the Back Bay Fens; chimes and an organ performance at The First Church of Christ, Scientist; musical performances from the New England Conservatory; Zil Misik; and the Beatbus, a music workshop and performance venue on wheels.
