Learning sight words is one of the most important parts of early reading, and “to” is one your child will see everywhere! These free printable “to” sight word worksheets are designed to make reading and writing practice fun, hands-on, and easy for both kids and grown-ups.
The word to may be small, but it shows up in almost every early reader book – which makes mastering it an exciting milestone for young learners. These printable worksheets help kids recognize, trace, write, and use to in ways that feel more like play than work.
As a mom of four (with one right in the middle of 1st grade sight word lessons!), I love creating resources that make learning joyful and stress-free. These pages were designed to be fun, no-prep, and totally free, perfect for teachers, homeschoolers, and parents wanting to give a little extra reading support at home.

✏️ What’s Included in the “To” Sight Word Pack
Each printable in this pack focuses on helping kids see, say, trace, and write the word to in fun, multi-sensory ways.
1. Color by Sight Word
A classic color-by-number twist, but with words! Kids color each section based on the sight word listed. When they’re done, the word to is revealed in a fun, hidden picture.
This helps kids with word recognition and fine-motor focus while keeping learning fun.

2. Write & Draw Page
Kids write a short sentence using the word to (like “I go to school.”) and then draw a picture to match.
It’s a wonderful way to practice reading comprehension, sentence building, and creativity, all on one page!

3. Trace, Write, Read & Color Page
This page combines tracing, sentence writing, and coloring.
Children trace the word to, trace a short sentence using to, and color a simple matching picture.
It’s an excellent way to strengthen pencil control and link reading with meaning.

4. Sight Word Activity Page (Easier Version)
Perfect for beginners!
Kids will:
- Color the sight word to
- Circle to from a group of sight words
- Trace and write to
- Color the letters T and O in an alphabet grid
- Fill in the missing to in a short sentence
- Color a matching picture

5. Sight Word Activity Page (Harder Version)
A slightly more advanced page that encourages independence:
- Color and trace the sight word to
- Dot or color all the to words hidden in circles
- Write to independently
- Circle the word to written in different fonts
- Cut and paste a sentence using the correct words

🧩 Fun Activity Ideas to Reinforce the Word “To”
Looking for extra, screen-free ways to help kids remember and use the word to? Try adding one or two of these simple, play-based activities to your routine this week:
🪩 1. “To” Treasure Hunt
Hide sticky notes around the room with two-word clues like “to bed,” “to park,” or “to mom.” When your child finds one, have them read it out loud and finish the sentence (“Let’s go to bed!”).
✏️ 2. Sentence Builder Cards
Write short words like go, run, walk, jump, play on separate index cards and add the word to on its own card. Kids can mix and match to make quick sentences like Go to dad or Run to the tree.
🖍️ 3. Rainbow Writing
Have kids trace the word to multiple times with different colored crayons or markers. Each color adds a new layer of memory through repetition.
🚗 4. Action Game: Go To…
Turn learning into movement! Call out actions like, “Go to the couch,” “Go to the door,” or “Go to your toys.” It’s an easy way to combine listening skills, movement, and repetition of the sight word to.
🎵 5. Sing It Out
Make up a short, silly song using the word to. For example:
🎶 “I’m going to the park, to the park, to the park!” 🎶
Singing rhythmically helps children remember sight words through melody and sound.
