If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for ways to make early reading and writing feel fun instead of forced. Especially during those preschool years when attention spans are short and little hands are still learning fine motor skills.
That’s exactly why I created these free printable Valentine themed pencil control worksheets.
My preschooler absolutely loves anything that involves cutting and pasting. If there are scissors involved, she is all in. And honestly, that cut and paste element has been such a great way for her to build early scissor skills while also sneaking in letter recognition, fine motor practice, and prewriting skills. I made these worksheets for her, and wanted to share them with anyone who could also use them to sneak in some find motor practice with a bit of holiday flair.
More Free Learning Fun
If your kids enjoy simple, hands-on print-and-go activities, you’ll love the free learning printables in my resource library. I share themed fine-motor worksheets, coloring pages, and early literacy activities you can add to centers or quiet work time.

What’s Included in These Valentine Worksheets
Each page features a cute Valentine themed picture for your child to trace and draw using dashed lines. Sweet, simple designs that feel fun without being overwhelming.
Then a word to go with the picture that children with stronger pencil control can trace over for extra practice, and then letters of the word, scrambled and ready to be cut out, rearranged, and glued into the correct order.
It’s a hands-on way to:
- Practice pencil control and prewriting skills
- Build early letter awareness and word recognition
- Strengthen fine motor skills
- Learn basic scissor skills in a fun, low-pressure way
And because everything is Valentine themed, it feels more like a fun activity instead of “schoolwork.”
Free, Easy, and Ready to Print
One of my biggest goals with these printables is to keep them free, easy, and accessible. No complicated prep. No subscriptions required just to get started.
You can simply click, download, and print. That’s it.
Whether you’re a parent doing learning at home, a preschool teacher prepping for February centers, or a therapist looking for simple fine motor activities, these worksheets are designed to be quick to use and easy to love.

At the end of the day, I just want learning to feel joyful. I want kids to feel proud of what they’re creating and parents to feel confident that they’re supporting early literacy in a realistic way.
I hope these Valentine worksheets bring a little extra fun, learning, and heart into your preschool routine this season.
Happy Valentine’s Day and happy learning. 💗
