Hey there fellow parents of preschoolers and homeschoolers! I am so excited to share with you all a super fun and educational activity that will bring the book “Gregory The Terrible Eater” to life in a whole new way. Get ready to dive into the world of the letter G with this interactive and engaging activity that your little ones are sure to love!
First off, if you haven’t read “Gregory The Terrible Eater” yet, I highly recommend picking up a copy. This adorable story follows Gregory, a goat who prefers fruits, vegetables, eggs, and fish to the usual goat diet of tires, cans, and shirts. As Gregory’s parents try to get him to eat more traditional goat food, silliness ensues. It’s a hilarious and heartwarming tale that will have both you and your child giggling from start to finish.
Now onto the fun part – the activity! To kick things off, you’ll want to print out this free Gregory goat face printout. Just click to download and/or print. Next, grab a cardboard box and glue the goat face printout to the front. Use scissors to carefully cut out the goat’s mouth, creating a hole big enough to feed items into.

Now, it’s time to put together your sensory bin. Gather an assortment of play food, toys, and even some trash items (clean, of course) to represent the different foods Gregory eats in the book. Think fruits, vegetables, eggs, fish, and some silly items like tires and cans. Place everything in a large bin or container for your child to easily access.
As you read “Gregory The Terrible Eater” with your little one, have them interact with the story by feeding the cutout goat various items from the sensory bin. Encourage them to match the foods to the ones mentioned in the book, or get creative and have them try feeding Gregory some funny items like a toy car or a hairbrush.
Not only is this activity a blast for your child, but it also helps reinforce key concepts like letter recognition (G is for Gregory!) and story comprehension. Plus, it encourages imaginative play and fine motor skills as they feed the goat different items through the mouth cutout.
And the best part? This activity is both fun and educational, making it a win-win for you and your child. So grab your copy of “Gregory The Terrible Eater,” print out that goat face, and get ready to have a blast exploring the letter G in a whole new way.
I hope you and your little one have a wonderful time with this “Letter G” themed activity. If you give it a try, be sure to share your experiences with us in the comments below. Happy reading and playing!
Hey there fellow caregivers and parents of preschoolers and homeschoolers!
I wanted to share with you a fun and educational activity that my son absolutely loved, inspired by the book “Press Here“. If you haven’t heard of this book, it’s a super interactive and engaging book that invites children to press, shake, and tilt the book to watch the dots change and move.
For our activity, we decided to gather some supplies like a straw, a sensory bin, and some tissue paper circles in red, blue, and yellow (we found tissue paper confettiand picked out the colors that matched the book). Then, we placed the tissue paper circles in the sensory bin and went through the book page by page while my son match up the confetti to the layout of the dots on the different pages of “Press Here”, or tipped the box with the confetti and watched it fall to the sides, but his favorite for sure was blowing the tissue paper circles around with his breath and a straw, and seeing them move in real life just like the dots did in the book!
For our second activity, we got a sheet of black paper and my son glued down the tissue paper circles to create his own piece of art making fun designs like on the black pages in the book. It was a great way for him to express his creativity and make a connection to the book in a hands-on way.
Overall, this book and activity combo was a hit in our house and I highly recommend giving it a try with your little ones. It’s a fun way to bring a book to life and get them engaged in reading and art at the same time.
I hope you and your kiddos enjoy this activity as much as we did! Happy reading and creating!
Xoxo,
Brittney
What is your favorite part of this activity or what book should I do next? Leave me ideas in the comments 🙂
