Learning sight words is one of the biggest milestones on the path to confident reading, and “in” is one of the earliest and most important words kids will encounter!
I created these free printable sight word worksheets to help children practice reading and writing in through playful, hands-on activities that build both literacy and fine-motor skills.
As a mom of four (with one currently in 1st grade!), I see every day how much progress comes from short, consistent reading practice. My goal with these pages, and with all my sight word printables, is to make early learning fun, easy, and completely free for teachers, homeschoolers, and parents like us.
These “In” sight word printables are ready for you to print, use, and share – perfect for classroom centers, morning work, small-group activities, or quiet learning time at home!

✏️ What’s Included in the “In” Sight Word Pack
Each page in this printable pack helps kids recognize, trace, write, and use the word in in creative ways that reinforce reading confidence.
1. Color by Sight Word
This one’s always a favorite! Kids color each section according to the sight word shown, when finished, the word in is revealed.
It’s an easy, no-prep way to blend coloring fun with sight word recognition.

2. Write & Draw Page
Kids write a short sentence using the word in (“The cat is in the box.”) and then draw a matching picture below.
This activity builds sentence comprehension, encourages creativity, and strengthens the link between reading and expression.

3. Trace, Write, Read & Color Page
This multi-skill worksheet helps students trace the sight word in, then trace and read a simple sentence using it.
At the bottom, a dotted-line picture provides guided drawing practice — perfect for improving pencil control while reinforcing word meaning.

4. Sight Word Activity Page (Easier Version)
This all-in-one worksheet keeps practice fresh and fun with multiple mini-challenges:
- Color the sight word in
- Circle in from a mix of sight words
- Trace and write in
- Color in the letters I and N from an alphabet grid
- Fill in the missing word in a simple sentence
- Color a matching picture!
Great for kindergarteners or early first graders who are still building fluency.

5. Sight Word Activity Page (Harder Version)
A little more advanced for students who are ready for a challenge!
Kids will:
- Color and trace the sight word in
- Dot or color all the in words hidden in a word circle
- Trace and write in independently
- Circle the word in written in different fonts
- Cut and paste a short sentence using word boxes below
This version adds variety and builds confidence for readers transitioning to more independent writing.

🌟 Why I Created These Free Sight Word Printables
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I love designing hands-on, printable learning pages that kids actually enjoy using. Every page is designed with simple instructions, clean black-and-white printing, and kid-friendly art to make early literacy accessible, affordable, and fun.
