Sight words are a huge part of building early reading confidence, and “an” is one of the first vowel-starting sight words kids meet in simple sentences. These free printable “an” sight word worksheets help young learners practice tracing, reading, writing, and using an in fun, hands-on ways that encourage early literacy skills.
Because an appears in phrases like “an egg,” “an apple,” “an octopus,” and many more, mastering it early helps children read smoother sentences and understand the pattern of using an before vowel sounds.
As a mom of four (with one currently in 1st grade!), I know how important it is to make sight word practice playful, simple, and affordable. These worksheets have helped my own kids build confidence and fluency, and I love sharing them with teachers, homeschool families, and parents who want easy print-and-go learning resources.
These “An” sight word printables are free to print individually from the post.
