Welcome to Week 11. This is your low-prep, print-and-go Letter J plan. Each day includes a quick 5-minute mini lesson, one simple activity, and free printables that support it.
Best for: kindergarten centers, homeschool, preschool review, and busy parents who want a simple plan without a lot of prep.

Daily Mini Lessons + Printables
Day 1: Meet Letter J
Mini Lesson Script (5 minutes)
- Point to J and j. Say: “This is letter J. It can look like J or j, but it is the same letter.”
- Say: “J says /j/ like jam.” (Have kids repeat 2–3 times.)
- Show 3 picture examples: jam, jar, jet, jellyfish. Ask: “Do you hear /j/ at the start?”
Do This (2 minutes): Jump for J. Show picture cards or say simple words aloud and invite students to do a small jump if the word starts with /j/. Try: jam (jump), jar (jump), sun (quiet), jet (jump), dog (quiet), jellyfish (jump).
Teacher Tip: Keep it short and playful.

Day 2: Write Letter J
Mini Lesson Script (5 minutes)
- Say: “Today we are going to write letter J the right way.”
- Uppercase J: “Start at the top, line down, then curve at the bottom.”
- Lowercase j: “Start in the middle, line down, curve at the bottom, then add a dot.”
Do This (2 minutes): Hook the J. Students air-write a big uppercase J, then trace J on the table with their finger while saying: “Down, curve.” Then make one line down, curve it, and tap above it for the lowercase j dot.

Optional: If kids need extra fine motor practice, add a simple trace-and-color J page.
Day 3: Hear the /j/ Sound
Mini Lesson Script (5 minutes)
- Say: “Today we are listening for the sound /j/ at the beginning of words.”
- Say: “When you hear /j/, wiggle like jelly.”
- Try a few examples: jam (yes), jar (yes), jellyfish (yes), sun (no), dog (no), jump (yes).
Do This (2 minutes): Jelly Wiggle for J. Show picture cards and ask: “What is this? Say it slowly. Do you hear /j/ at the beginning?” Students wiggle if the word starts with J.

Day 4: Centers + Review

Today is about strengthening and applying those skills independently.
Mini Lesson (2–3 minutes)
Say:
“This week we learned about the letter J.”
“Tell me the letter name. Tell me the sound.”
“Show me uppercase J in the air. Show me lowercase j in the air.”
“Can you show me the curve at the bottom?”
“Can you show me the dot on lowercase j?”
“Can you tell me one J word?”
Pick 2 centers and rotate.
