Fireworks Fun: DIY Reusable Confetti Popper Craft for Preschoolers

Hey there, craft-loving teachers, homeschoolers, and parents of curious toddlers! Today, I’ve got an explosive craft that will ignite loads of fun while teaching your little ones about the fabulous Letter F. Get ready to make your very own reusable “Firework” popper that will surely make your craft time go with a bang!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Paper tube
  • Card stock paper
  • Cardboard
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Tissue paper
  • 1 Pony bead
  • String
  • Glue (hot glue works best)

Let’s get crafty with these simple steps:

  1. Take your paper tube and place it on a piece of card stock paper. Trace a circle around it, making sure to cut the circle out slightly wider than the marked area.

  2. Cut small slices all around the traced circle so you can fold it up and glue it together, creating a bowl shape. I’m a fan of hot glue for quick drying!

  3. Place the tube on a piece of cardboard and trace it. Cut out the cardboard circle, making it a little bigger than the traced shape.

  4. Take two pipe cleaners and wind the ends together so they are twice as long. Wrap them around a marker to create a spring shape.

  5. Poke a hole through the center of both the bowl-shaped paper and the cardboard disk.

  6. Glue one end of your pipe cleaner spring to the underside of the paper bowl. Then, glue the other end of the pipe cleaner spring to the center of the cardboard disk.

  7. Tie a pony bead to the end of your string. Thread the string through the hole in your bowl, through the center of your pipe cleaners, and out the bottom of the cardboard disk. Make sure the bead is inside the bowl and that your string won’t pull through. Leave a long tail as this will be the pull string for your confetti firework.

  8. Take your cardboard tube and fold it in half. Cut a line around the bottom fourth, leaving half an inch uncut so the tube stays together.

  9. Unfold the tube and slide the bowl, spring, and disk into the cut area. Push the thread so it hangs out the bottom. Apply glue around the disk and opening, sealing it shut. If the cardboard disk extends a bit, it’ll give added stability when the spring is used. Quick-drying hot glue works wonders here!

  10. Let your creativity sparkle and decorate the outside of your tube with whatever materials you fancy. The more colorful, the better!

  11. Once everything is dry, it’s showtime! Load small pieces of tissue paper into the top bowl. Pull back the spring, release it, and watch the confetti fireworks blast off into the sky!

Ladies and gentlemen, you have just created an incredible reusable confetti popper that will keep your little ones entertained and engaged while learning about the Letter F. The best part? The possibilities for creative explosions are endless!

So gather your little ones, dig into your craft supplies, and let the Fireworks Fun commence. It’s time to make learning a blast!
